    Binocular Technologies

        Holography
    • Binocular Technologies
    • Parallax Barrier
Binocular stereoscopic technique is based on the idea that when two slightly different images are provided to two eyes of an observer then the binocular parallax will be observed.

The advantages of this technique is that it is easy to implement, the display is full color, and images could be computer generated or photographically captured. This method is used in the stereoscopic movie theaters.

The biggest limitation is that a viewer has to wear special glasses or has to be in a specific location. The other disadvantage is that this technique does not provide any of the other three physiological cues, which may bring a physiological discomfort to the observer and cause a headache or dizziness.

      Advantages:

      • Easy to implement
      • Full color
      • CG images or photographically captured
      Limitations:
      • Only binocular cue is reproduced
      • Viewer has to wear special glasses or has to be in a specific location
      • Physiological discomfort after 15 minutes
